Honeywell’s UOP Receives “Biofuels Digest Company of the Year Award” for Achievement in Processing Technology

UOP LLC, a Honeywell company, has received the “Biofuels Digest Company of the Year Award” for achievement in Processing Technology.

According to the Biofuels Digest article on the award, UOP received the recognition because of the company’s significant licensing activity for its hydroprocessing technology, utilized in converting renewable oils into renewable jet fuel.

UOP has been delivering cutting-edge technology to the petroleum refining, gas processing, petrochemical production and major manufacturing industries for more than 90 years.  It launched its Renewable Energy & Chemicals business in 2006 to develop and commercialize efficient and profitable ways to produce high-quality fuels and chemicals from natural oils and wastes.

“Though UOP has long been a leading supplier to oil refineries, they have clearly set a new standard in bringing advanced biofuels to the next level with their hydroprocessing technology, which has provided fuel for a number of flight tests by commercial airlines and the military over the past two years,” said Biofuels Digest editor Jim Lane.

UOP, which also ranked #12 out of more than 1400 eligible companies in the “50 Hottest Companies in Bioenergy” for 2009-10, will be recognized at the Advanced Biofuels Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. on April 27 and 28, 2010.
