Honeywell’s UOP Wins Two New Petrochemical Projects in China

Honeywell’s UOP, a leading provider of technologies and products to produce petrochemicals, announced two new projects in China.

Both Zhangjiagang Yangzi River Petrochemical Co. Ltd and Shandong Chambroad Petrochemicals Co. will use Honeywell UOP’s C3 Oleflex™ process to produce propylene for use in the production of films and packaging materials.  Additionally, the Shandong Chambroad facility will utilize Honeywell UOP’s C4 Oleflex process to produce isobutylene for use in the production of fuels and synthetic rubber, which will make it the first facility in China to produce both propylene and isobutylene in a single unit, and only the second unit of its kind in the world.  Both projects are scheduled for start-up in 2014.

Since the beginning of 2011, Honeywell’s UOP has announced nine new petrochemical projects in China, Abu Dhabi and North America. Pete Piotrowski, senior vice president and general manager for Process Technology and Equipment at Honeywell’s UOP, comments, ”UOP’s combined Oleflex projects will help increase propylene production by nearly 5 million metric tons globally in the next three years.”
