Honeywell Defense & Space Awarded Contract by U.S. Air Force

Honeywell has been awarded a $14 million contract by the U.S. Air Force for engineering services to support Enhanced GPS and Inertial Navigation Systems (EGIs), which provide high-precision attitude, heading, velocity and flight vector data for fixed-wing and rotary aircraft.  The award is to support an earlier $80.2 million contract for Global Position System/Inertial Navigation System production units for the AH-64, AB3, UH-60, CH-47, SPN-46, E-2, and UH-1 platforms for the Army, Navy, and foreign military sales requirements.

The service support will take place at Honeywell’s Clearwater, Fla., facility and is expected to be completed by March 31, 2015.

Honeywell has more than 25 years of experience in laser precision navigation systems and provides the expertise needed as it continues to improve EGI capability through investments in software features, digital ring laser gyros and quartz accelerometers.
