On Oct. 25, Honeywell Chairman and CEO Dave Cote appeared on Bloomberg’s In the Loop with Betty Liu in support of the Campaign to Fix the Debt and discussed the comprehensive tax plan that is needed to solve the nation’s debt problem.
“At the end of the day, this problem gets solved only with an increase in revenues, a big decrease in spending – specifically, Medicare and Medicaid – and hopefully there is enough political will to focus on infrastructure and science and math education. It’s that package together that needs to get done.”
Cote also discussed the response of politicians and government officials to the Campaign to Fix the Debt and its recent boom in CEO involvement.
“This issue has gathered unbelievable attention and the Fix the Debt Campaign that we started three months ago is taking it up another notch. Lawmakers saw that over $30 million has been contributed by CEOs to say fix this problem – recognizing it is an American problem that requires an American solution – work together to govern, stop pursuing things on this ideological bent, and focus on that radical middle that most of the country is in.”
