Don Bateman Wins Aviation Week’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Don Bateman, Honeywell Corporate Fellow and Chief Engineer-Technologist for Flight Safety Systems and Technology, has received Aviation Week's prestigious Philip J. Klass Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Bateman was recognized for his numerous contributions to the Aerospace industry over his 57-year career, including efforts towards the first Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System, which increased situational awareness through the use of GPS, moving maps, and terrain and obstacle databases, and SmartRunwayTM and SmartLandingTM system upgrades. He has more than 50 unique patents and 90 foreign patents for aviation safety technology.
